Claudia Smit - Director

Claudia has been a qualified social worker since December 1988 (B A Social Work, US).  She has worked in various settings – Defence Force, Cape Town Child Welfare (child protection),an addiction clinic, St Michael’s  child and youth care centre (residential care for abused teenage girls with a strong family preservation program) and was the peri-natal counsellor for pregnant women at Retreat Maternity Unit.  She therefore has lots of clinical experience and also NPO management experience.

'I believe in human potential and that “we should spend much more time and effort helping things go right than dealing with things that go wrong” – The Anatomy of Peace. I also believe that everything that we are looking for, we will find deep within ourselves. My role as director is to lead Anex, as a children’s rights organization , strategically, with support from the Board, into a direction that fits with the global development of holistic services to families and children  and the combating of exploitation of children.'
