Excellent Domestics (a recruitment agency) was closed down by the Minister of Labour in March of 2004 and Mr. and Mrs. Mia (the owners) were charged in terms of the Skills Development Act because they were operating illegally as labour brokers.

Four girls under the age of 18 were found on the premises. All of the domestic workers were placed in shelters and later transported home. On the 5 July 2005 the owners of Excellent Domestics finally appeared in court on the charge of contravening the Skill’s Development Act of 1997.
